GREGORY C. TOOLE – CEO / President

Greg graduated from Texas Tech University in 1975 with a degree in Finance and a minor in Chemistry. He joined Byron Jackson, after college, where he entered a two year engineer training program in Brownfield, Texas, which he completed in 18 months. After his training, which took him to Odessa, Monahans, and Midland, Texas, he became the district engineer in Hobbs, New Mexico, where he worked with David Barringer, the present VP of Engineering for Ultra Tech Frac Services, LLC (UTFS).

Greg joined the Western Company of North America in 1978 and moved to Houston where he became a Technical Sales Representative. In 1979 he was promoted to Technical Sales Manager of the Gulf Coast Region where he met and worked with Jerry Smith the VP of Operations for UTFS. In 1980 he became the District Manager for the Palestine, Texas, District which he managed from the construction through the start of operations. He founded Ultra Tech Services (UTS 1) in 1982 and held the position of Senior VP. The Company operated in Central and South Texas with Districts in Bryan and Laredo and the corporate headquarters in Houston. In 1986, Greg purchased the majority of UTS 1 and became the President. The company was sold in 1994 to TransAmerica Gas Corporation. In the same year Greg founded Proppant Technology, LLC (PropTech) and assumed the position of President. Prop Tech imported Aluminum bauxite proppant from a Brazilian supplier, which it helped set up, to produce a marketable bauxite proppant for the Frac Industry. By 2000 Prop Tech had become the number one supplier of High Strength Bauxite Proppant in the World. In 2000 Prop Tech sold its’ distribution contract to the Brazilian Company. Greg did consulting work in the petroleum industry for a couple of years in Texas, then spent most of his time in Panama City Beach, Florida, where he was born and his parents live, in a semi-retired state until 2010.

After talking to several old friends and customers, visiting Midland/Odessa and attending the Permian Basin Oil Show in October, he decided to get back into the frac business. In December he met Jim Parkman and Graham Whaling, of Parkman and Whaling, who put together an investment group and Ultra Tech Frac Services, LLC, was formed In February 2011.


GERALD (JERRY) SMITH – Vice President of Operations

Jerry has been in the Oil and Gas Business for 34 years. He started with The Western Co. of North America in 1978, where Jerry held the following Positions, Fluid Tech, Lab Supervisor, Equipment Operator, Service Supervisor, District Technical Sales and District Engineer. Jerry left Western in 1982 to help Greg Toole start Ultra Tech Services. Jerry was with Ultra Tech for 10 years as District Manager and General Manager. Jerry spent the next 5 Years working as a Frac Consultant for various Operators. Jerry joined BJ Services in 1997 and worked 13 years. Jerry held the following Positions, Offshore Equipment Operator, Offshore Service Supervisor, Field Tech Rep, District Technical Supervisor, Frac and Sand Control Instructor at Corporate Training, Frac Manager of Algeria. Jerry has Pumped Frac Jobs in the U.S., Gulf of Mexico, Algeria, New Zealand and Australia.


DAVID BARRINGER – Vice President of Engineering

David graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1970 with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He began his career in the Oil & Gas industry in Odessa, Texas in 1973 with Byron Jackson, Inc. (BJ). During his tenure with BJ, he and Greg Toole were placed together as co-workers in Hobbs, NM. David joined the Western Company of North America in Midland, TX as a Region Technical Sales Representative in 1977. In 1981, David became part of the team that ushered NOWSCO Services into the pressure pumping business. David and Greg were reunited in 1989 as part of Ultra Tech Services, where the company was challenged with pumping fracture treatments in the hostile environs of south Texas. After a short stint in the chemical services industry in the early 90’s, David was once again involved in the start-up of a fracturing company in south Texas, Diamond Services. Diamond Services was purchased by American Fracmaster in 1998, and subsequently acquired by BJ Services in 1999. As a Region Engineer for BJ Services, David was involved in fracturing operations in Texas, as well as areas of New Mexico, Oklahoma, Wyoming and Colorado. He was also called in to augment the training staff at BJ’s corporate training facility in Tomball, Texas on an as-needed basis. David retired from BJ Services (Baker Hughes Pressure Pumping) in May, 2011 and joined Ultra Tech Frac Services shortly thereafter.


LAWRENCE J. HERMAN – Chief Financial Officer / Secretary / Treasurer

Larry is a Certified Public Accountant and financial industry veteran with over 30 years of experience. Prior to joining the Company, he had been a Senior Partner at HRSS LLP, CPAs & Advisors, the 23rd largest CPA firm in Houston, Texas since 2005. He successfully managed his own accounting and wealth management practice for 20 years. Larry has also worked as a Financial Manager for Honeywell in Minneapolis Minnesota, Milan Italy, and Waltham Massachusetts. He was an auditor at Plante & Moran CPAs in Detroit. He holds a BS in accounting from the University of Detroit in Detroit, Michigan
